Teaching aims : Basic knowledge of digital technology. Understanding the structure and effects of logical gates, combinational and sequential circuits and simple state machines. Basic knowledge in analysis and design of simple digital circuits, including simple block elements for data processing and control circuits. 
Contents :

Topics of the course:
- Applications of semiconductor devices for switching and logical gates
- Logic families, mainly features, realisation and parameters of IC families
- Treatment of combinatorial and sequential circuits
- Hardware description possibilities
- Programmable logic devices (PROM, PAL, PLA etc.)
- Basic circuits for numerical operations
